READING
NEWS:
This week,
as a reader, we learned that characters have what it takes to overcome
challenges. We will do this by reading the blurbs on the back of multiple books
and thinking what kind of traits that character shows to get them through any
potential challenges. We also will learn that secondary characters often teach
the main character something. We will discuss the secondary characters from our
mentor text ‘Because of Winn-Dixie’ and find out what effect they had on our
main character.
WRITING
NEWS:
This week we
started our next Writers Workshop unit, opinion/argument writing. We completed
our pre-assessment writing piece and will learn how to collect ideas like an
essayist.
