Reading/Writing/Spelling News

READING NEWS:

This week we will be continuing our Mixed Genre Series reading workshop lessons. We will work on creating ways for entering into and continuing a conversation. We will do this by learning about a new bookmark that we will get that has many different conversation starters on them. We will also pay attention to the interactions and relationships of characters to learn more about them. We will do this by watching “Simon’s Cat” and reading “Bink and Gollie” to review character traits.

WRITING NEWS:

This week we continued our writer’s workshop personal essay writing. We will learn how writers support their point of view with evidence in the form of focused short stories. We will also learn how to create essay conclusions that connect back to the point of view.

SPELLING NEWS:

Spelling this week is r-Controlled Vowels (-air, -ear, -are, -ere, -eir). Every child gets a hard copy of their spelling words each Monday to take home to study. Please double check to make sure that they have it in their take home folder.
