Reading/Writing/Spelling News

READING NEWS:

This week we will be continuing our Mixed Genre Series reading workshop lessons. We will work on using what we know about the series to make predictions. We will also think about what the character, story, and series is trying to teach us. Lastly, we will develop an idea about a character then nudge thinking to more ideas about that character.

WRITING NEWS:

This week we continued our writer’s workshop personal essay writing. We will learn how writers revise and edit their personal essays. We will also celebrate our complete personal essays by typing them and then reading them to our small groups.

SPELLING NEWS:

Spelling this week is Double Consonants plus y. Every child gets a hard copy of their spelling words each Monday to take home to study. Please double check to make sure that they have it in their take home folder.

Our spelling test will be on Friday.

HOMEWORK: Your child should be studying their spelling words every night as well as reading 20 minutes and recording it on their March reading log. Those reading logs will be due April 1^st
